Student Link July Newsletter - 2024

Hello from Honduras.  The team of 4 boarded the plane at a very early 6am headed for Miami. We arrived in Honduras early afternoon.

The first 1/2 of the trip was spent in La Esperanza where Kelly and Steve Solheim live.  We got to spend time doing ministry with them at the school teaching English classes and running their youth club Club Aslan.  Some great connections were made with the students.

A fun aspect of the neighborhood the Solheim’s live in is there are 4 giant dinosaurs you can walk to. We spent one afternoon visiting and taking some fun pictures with them.

Annabelle and I got to share with a small village church about Student Link.  They are planning to use the materials in the church.

The second ½ of the trip has been spent leading morning devotionals for the adults and missionary kids (MK).  We looked at the foundations Jesus lived out with His disciples.

In the afternoons we have enjoyed a lot of fun activities and getting to see Honduras.  I also had an opportunity to share Student Link with the missionaries.  They are excited to get to use the tool for disciple-making.  Kelly already has 3 young adults that want to do it.  As I finish this up I am at the Miami airport waiting for our flight to MN.  Unfortunately, it continues to get delayed. Praying we make it home on this flight and it does not get cancelled.

Spent a week in Chicago with Sonlife for a youth conference training them to share the Gospel.  I was able to share about Student Link to several of the groups attending the conference.  This group of lovely ladies are from Virginia and a super excited to  have their leader Ruby take them through it.  Please keep this group in your prayers and that they will all become disciple-makers.

Sent books to Kansas as a result of lasts months trip.  Will plans to go through the materials with a friend. Eden and I are meeting weekly to go through the materials.  She will be starting her own group in September with 3 of her friends.

Student Link Facility:

The place in PL ended up not working out.  But Deb from Treehouse has found a better place in Shakopee.  We will be meeting next week to talk through the details of it.  Continue to pray for this decision and for the funds to support this decision.

Prayer Requests:

  • Rick had surgery on his neck.  Pray for complete healing.

  • Team Rekindle – Czech mission trip in September planning and financial coverage for team and me

  • Student Link Facility – pray for wisdom and discernment to do God’s will and funding

  • Student Link to be used in Honduras for disciple-making
